Understanding Domain to IP Lookup

Domain to IP lookup is a process that translates a human-readable domain name (like example.com) into an IP address (like 93.184.216.34). This process is essential for the functioning of the internet, as it allows computers to locate and communicate with each other using IP addresses, which are numerical identifiers assigned to each device connected to the internet.

When you enter a domain name in your web browser, a Domain Name System (DNS) server performs a lookup to find the corresponding IP address. This IP address is then used to route your request to the correct server, which hosts the website you want to visit. Without this translation, you would need to remember the IP addresses of all the websites you want to visit, which is impractical.

Reverse DNS (rDNS) lookup is the opposite process, where an IP address is translated back into a domain name.
